Celebrating the Life of Erica D. Reeves
May 19, 1962 - May 27, 2025
Obituary
Erica D. Reeves was born on May 19, 1962, in Lynchburg, Virginia, the fifth of seven children to Bernice L. Younger and the late James M. Younger.
She was a devoted mother to her beloved son, Tekel Reeves, and the late Tracie Reeves-Moore. Tekel lovingly stood by her side every day, a son any mother would be proud to raise. Erica also adored her only grandchild, Madison Moore, who brought her endless joy.
On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in Columbia, Maryland, Erica peacefully transitioned to her eternal home. Her work on Earth was complete, and her Lord and Savior welcomed her into rest and restoration.
As a child, Erica united with Greater Canaan Land Church, where she remained a faithful and devoted member. Though she moved away, she stayed closely connected to her church family-especially to Mother Bennett, whom she dearly loved.
Erica will be remembered for her warm personality, loving spirit, and deep devotion to family and friends. She found great joy in spending time with Madison and living life fully, never allowing her private health journey to dim her light.
A loyal friend and talented home decorator, Erica's eye for design was unmistakable. Her home was always immaculate, filled with warmth and beauty. Her proudest titles were "Mom" and "Grandma," and she wore them with grace and joy.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
Her loving son, Tekel Reeves, and granddaughter, Madison Moore;
Siblings: Sallie Frances Miller, Shari Younger, Dr. Robin J. Bell, her husband Terry, Sandra L. Younger, and Willie A. Younger; Nephews: Corey Hall, Qiuan Younger, Jamie Younger, Brian Younger, and Brandon Younger; Nieces: Michelle Miller and Bria Archie; As well as a host of great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, and cherished friends.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord."
- Matthew 25:21

POEM FOR ERICA
My Change of Address
Dear Family and Friends,
Please be advised that I have moved. I am so sorry that I did not give you more notice, but my wings were ready a lot sooner than I expected. I wanted to stay here a little longer to continue to be a mother to Tekel and a grandmother to Maddie, but God already had my date and time picked out. As we all know, we don't know the minute or the hour!
I received a call from my Master, the Chief Architect and he informed me that my new home was complete, so I flew away like a morning dove.
All that knew me, knew that I was very private and lived for my children and granddaughter. I lived each day to the fullest even though nearing the end, most days it was almost unbearable. Although I prayed for more time, I had been working on my building and sending up my timber, packing up and getting ready to go. While I was cherishing every breath, I knew that the finishing touches of my heavenly home was being inspected by the Chief Carpenter himself, Jesus Christ and my time here on this earth was coming to an end!
On May 27, 2025, at 2:08 pm he let me know that it was time to move in. God told me to go ahead and change my Address. My new home is a sight to behold. It is located on an exclusive estate, behind those beautiful pearly gates. It is just over the other side of the serene celestial shore. Of course, the streets are paved with gold and every day is Sunday and all my suffering is over!
I was born and raised in Gretna Virginia and lived in Maryland for almost a decade, but no other place in this world compares to where I am now. I know that many of you are sad but be strong for Tekel and Maddie. I know that God is watching over them and they are in great hands, or he would not have changed my address so soon.
Before I close, I would like to give you all my new address:
Erica D. Reeves
Psalms 23
Heavenly Lane, 052725
P.S. I left my phone behind, but you can always call on God. If you don't know his number, it's on every page of your Bible. Until We Meet Again!
