Sylvia Wallace

Sylvia Vashti Wallace, daughter of the late Rodney and Delores Ockimey, was born June 4, 1955. She departed this life on June 9, 2025, at the age of 70.

Sylvia attended Baltimore City Public Schools. She was always devoted to her work, especially in how she could help those she interacted with.  She proudly worked at Regency Park for over 30 years, and she worked as a caregiver for many years.  Sylvia was dedicated to her work, to her family, and her friends. She loved to live life to the fullest, enjoying her time traveling and gambling when she could. She will be missed dearly by all who were lucky enough to know her.

She leaves to mourn her longtime partner, Cleveland Pendergrass Jr.; her loving children, Olajuwon Ockimey Wallace (Justine Collins), Chloe Petrice Wallace; her adoring grandchildren, Kamiya Diane Burges, and Kyon Glen Hall; her caring siblings, Rodney Ockimey Jr. (Nicole), Gladys Ockimey-Jarvis (Christopher Jarvis), Robert Ockimey (Marlene), Rockley Ockimey (Marquell); loving sister-in-law, Ashley Mcmullen; and her longtime friends, Anitra Holland-Jackson, Virginia Peoples, Mary Benton, Joan Askins, and many more friends, especially those she made over her long career at Regency Park, as well as a host of other relatives.

She was predeceased by her devoted parents, Rodney and Delores Ockimey; and her loving brothers, Roger Ockimey, and Rodneak Ockimey.

Services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, with a viewing at 1:30 pm, followed immediately by a celebration of life at 2:30 PM in the Main Chapel at 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, Maryland 21208. Interment will be held privately.
