Theresa Garland

Theresa Garland (nee Morris), of Ellicott City, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the age of 80. She is survived by her loving sons, Matthew Garland, Meredith (Debbie) Garland, Michael (Susan) Garland and Robert (Stephanie) Garland; dear sister, Cathy (Greg) Dayhoff; cherished grandchildren, Adrian Garland, Dominic (Jen) Garland, Kyle Garland and Kayla Garland; and adored great-granddaughter, Isis Garland. Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert Allen Garland; dear sister, Elizabeth Groh; and loving parents, Stanley Morris and Ruth Morris Saykowski.

Theresa was married to her beloved husband, Robert, on October 10, 1963, after a chance meeting that became a favorite family story. While traveling on a Greyhound bus, Theresa noticed a young sailor, as sailors were her weakness, and took the seat beside him. Robert was on his way to New York to board a Navy ship, and what began as a simple conversation, closely supervised by Theresa’s mother seated across the aisle, marked the beginning of a love that would last more than five decades. Together, they built a life centered on family, friendship, and devotion. Theresa dedicated 20 years of her professional life to Provident/M&T Bank, while also creating a warm and welcoming home. She enjoyed reading, baking, and sewing, and found her greatest joy in time spent with family and friends. Above all, she will be remembered as an incredible wife and mother, known for her selflessness, kindness, and steady presence in the lives of those who loved her.

A public visitation will be held at Sol Levinson, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 12pm-4pm. Funeral Service will be held at Sol Levinson on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 1pm, with a public visitation beginning at 12pm. A private interment will be held at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery on a later date, for immediate family only. In addition to flowers, the family invites contributions in Theresa's memory to be made to any animal rescue or veterans charity of your choice.
